IS RIVERSTONE FLOORING A GOOD RESIDENTIAL PRODUCT?
Because Riverstone Flooring is such a unique option with countless variations it is becoming one of the most popular flooring alternatives for the custom home market where customers want a unique floor designed for only them. It is also extremely comfortable to walk on, more so than any other hard surface flooring. With the ability to inlay tile and hardwood patterns into the epoxy/stone flooring it is simple to create a one-of-a-kind floor.Every Riverstone Flooring is made of stone, and each stone is coated with epoxy. Therefore, Riverstone Flooring is stain resistant, unlike carpet which will stain with spills. Carpet is made of fibers which will absorb liquids, Riverstone will not allow liquids to adhere to it, but will repel and evaporate most spills quickly.
WHY IS RIVERSTONE EPOXY FLOORING SO STRONG?
There are two components to Riverstone Flooring, Natural Stones, and Epoxy. The Stone is as hard as rock, because it is rock, harvested from riverbeds or crushed from mountains and quarries. These Pebbles are held together by a two part liquid Epoxy.Epoxy is the strongest bonding material created by modern scientific technology. For example, epoxies are used to bind concrete bridges together as well as bond the skins of Skylab and other space vehicles. Epoxies were specified for the United States SST, (Supersonic Transport) because of the tremendous heat caused by friction that would melt normal welds.
IS RIVERSTONE AN ARTIFICIAL PRODUCT?
No! Riverstone Flooring uses natural stones and crushed rock. No Coloring or Dyes are used to change the look of the Riverstone product. Every Riverstone color selection is the natural state the stone is harvested in. Only the change in appearance occurs when the epoxy is added. This introduces a wet look which enhances the natural color in each stone.DOES RIVERSTONE FLOORING REQUIRE MAINTENANCE?
Riverstone Flooring does not require any maintenance on interior applications other than regular cleaning via: vacuuming, sponge mopping, home steam cleaning, or professional steam cleaning as necessary to maintain a clean floor.Riverstone Flooring does require maintenance on exterior applications due to weather, traffic, and UV damage done to the epoxy over time. Maintenance requires pressure washing one to two times per year, and a re-roll of RiverGuard Epoxy every two to three years, depending on sun exposure and traffic. Pressure Washing can be done by the Home Owner, but the application of RiverGuard should be done by trained professionals. Never use other sealer products on your Riverstone, as they could 'attack' the Riverstone Epoxy and cause damage to your surface.
